Location: South Montgomery Co. FD
Class Length: 4 hours
The mission of the fire service is to save lives and protect property. These statements are accomplished by occupying the interior of structures where we can put water on fire as well as find and remove any occupants that we find inside. In order to best accomplish this mission we must increase our skills to decrease the time it takes for us to deploy handlines, mask up, force entry and begin to search for both victims and fire.
According to the Firefighter Rescue Survey, 10% of victims are located within 6 feet of an exterior door which means we include the 6 foot radius inside the door as part of our initial work area. The FFRS also states that when a victim is located within 2 minutes they have a 66% chance of survival.
Reducing Time To Task is a class that develops skills of Hose Deployments (Kevin Pfluger-Dagum), Forcible Entry (Mitch Huner-Fire Maul), Mask Ups, Victim Drags and Removals (Noah Katz-Priority Fire) in order to give students the ability to accomplish all of these tasks from the rig to the 6 foot mark inside the door and accomplish those tasks is less than 120 seconds.
This class will be broken down into 3 stations where students will spend 1hour at each station working each skill. The last part of the class will have final scenarios where students will be challenged to put their skills to the test with real world speed and skill.
Intended Audience: Any Firefighter or Officer looking to increase their knowledge and skill sets that surround the first arriving engine company and reducing their time to the interior.

Mitch started Fire Maul Tools with the mission to produce job oriented and purpose driven tools for the fire service. Refusal to accept the industry norm of adopting both tools and accessories brought about the core mission of FMT to make the Fire Service better.
Mitch has developed and patented a range of tool systems and accessories to improve firefighter performance and safety. He specializes in the implementation of modern tools and tactics to maximize effectiveness and outcome on the fire ground.
His passion for teaching is driven by the knowledge passed on from both fellow instructors and students alike. Always forward and always improving sets the foundation for the class, company, and the Fire Service.
